About our Process

How it's made

Future Pipe Industries Fiberstong Pipe is manufactured in accordance with ASTM D3517, Type 1, Liner 1, Grade 1 and AWWA C950 standards. This meets the most stringent plans and specifications applied to high volume irrigation without exception. Polymers and Fiberglass fiber are utilized on a continuous wind mandril for a uniform quality product. Silica sands are added for additional stiffness (strength).

Quality Control

FPI is committed to providing high quality products and operates a quality system certified to ISO 9001 requirements. Quality control testing includes thorough checks for all incoming raw materials and finished products according to FPI strict written standards. All resin consignments are checked for viscosity and gel time. Glass rovings are checked for TEX/Yield value and moisture content. Silica sand is checked for proper gradation, organic materials content and moisture content.

Testing

FPI performs multiple tests on all products as they are manufactured. Full design life assurance – long term tests. 18 samples are required for at least 10,000 hours (1 & 1/2 years). The spools are loaded until failure occurs. The failure points are statistically analyzed and extrapolated to 20, 30, and 50 years. Medium-term Tests are performed for product suitability. Short term Tests are performed for mechanical properties and quality control. Special Tests are performed for certification and user approval.
